Ash has had an exciting couple of weeks, with his oak framed roof going up on site within 3 days! Ash is chuffed with the results, describing the frame as his “piece de resistance”. In his own words:
The huge beams and vaulted ceilings really give you a feeling of space and size and I think will be the talking point of the house. Each one is lovingly hand crafted by the carpenters at Carpenter Oak and they truly look amazing. I’m so pleased with the result. If you’re considering an oak frame house, or oak roof as I did then I can highly recommend these boys. If you want to have a look at a little video of the oak frame process have a look here, it’s a lovely little video and I found it very interesting:

The roof went up in a little under 3 days with the aid of a crane and 3 of the Carpenter Oak boys… The oak porch they made for me really helps to break up and add character to the front facade of the building.

- The wood burner flume bracket detail – designed to become integral to the structure.
- we also constructed the softwood roof in our Devon workshops, prior to arriving on site.
- As well as the main oak frame
- That’s a rather cosy fit – the site was a challenge in terms of accessibility, but anything’s possible.
- The electricity cables had to be shrouded, to protect the crane.
