It’s always rewarding and exciting when our projects are given recognition and are shortlisted for national awards.
We currently have three projects in the running for awards.
Structural Timber Awards
The wedding venue Rackley’s Barn in the Chiltern Hills was shortlisted in the Structural Timber Awards, Commercial Project of the Year category. What was a dilapidated farm was converted into a stunning new venue and required Carpenter Oak’s expertise to repair and extend the oak framed roof of the main barn.
Winners were announced on Wednesday 4th October and although Rackley’s did not win its category, it was great that this project was recognised.
Build It Awards
This oak-framed reverse-level home has been shortlisted in the Build It Awards for Best Oak Frame Home. This stunning home was built by clients Peter and Natasha on the Devon/Somerset border in an area of outstanding beauty. With the vaulted oak framed living area upstairs their home makes full use of the incredible views, whilst also utilising technologies and techniques to make it highly energy efficient.
Winners were announced on Friday 24th November and our project didn’t win but we’re proud that it was a finalist for Best Oak Frame Home.
Wood Awards
The already award-winning Japanese Boathouse has also been shortlisted for a Wood Award. The Boathouse, designed by Ashworth Parkes Architects, was inspired by the traditional Japanese temples and ceremonial buildings and there was a very deliberate intention to maintain the spirit of Japanese framing. Carpenter Oak provided technical design support, fabrication & install supervision for this unique building in Autumn 2021.
Winners were announced on Wednesday 22nd November and we’re pleased to announce it won the Small Projects Award!
