• Carpenter Oak is very committed to the question of sustainability.  All our oak is sourced from well managed forests with FSC or PEFC (European equivalent) status.  Much of our oak comes from France where the quality, management and volume of oak is second to none. To ensure the mighty oak has a healthy future we give you 10 saplings to plant for every one used in your oak frame or we will arrange planting for you in FSC status woodlands.

• Unique amongst timber framing companies is our close and long standing relationship with Roderick James Architects, a group of 14 or so specialist architects who have been designing frame buildings for over 25 years.  Their designs are exciting, individual and impressive, winning many top awards.  They are notable for pushing the boundaries of timber engineering and are as equally challenged to create a modest but beautiful home on a tight budget, as they are a large project on the higher budget end of the scale.  For more information go to: www.rjarchitects.co.uk 

However, we should like to point out that a large part of our framing business also comes from architects introduced to us by our clients.  If your architect is unfamiliar or uneasy about designing a timber frame structure we can help with our ‘typical construction details’.  Alternatively Roderick James Architects are happy to act as consultant architects.
