'T' shape barnhouse in Devon
Location:
South Devon
Architect:
Roderick James Architects LLP
Frame Design:
Carpenter Oak
Details:
This is a very significant project in our history being the first oak frame home undertaken by the new Devon Yard in the mid 1990's and literally just around the corner - or rather across the field! A challenging site with the demolition of 20,000 sq ft of pig farm including 7 silos, each 35 ft high but more than compensated for by the boundless energy and enthusiasm of these lovely clients.
A traditional single storey 5 bay barn house with a 36' open plan space and two bedroom/bathroom wings at either end; the master bed/bath and large garage make up the 'T' structure. 2 large galleried areas at either end give 'his' and 'hers' offices and masses of storage space.
