Musicians home in Ireland
Location:
Co. Kilkenny, Ireland
Architect:
Roderick James Architects - Rhys Brookes
Frame Design:
Carpenter Oak
Details:
Described by locals as the 'Cathedral', the home of classical musicians, this stunning structure is designed both as a home and as a space to stage musical recitals and theatrical productions.
A very contemporary, almost 'loft style' design with a sweeping, eccentric curved oak roof to the master bedroom.
The building shows how the freedom and imagination of the clients has made maximum use of available contemporary fixtures, fitting and furniture.
The house won a Blueprint award in the FX design awards 2000.
