Large traditional oak frame home in Scotland
Location:
South West Scotland
Architect:
Roderick James Architects LLP
Frame Design:
Carpenter Oak Ltd
Details:
Built in 2004 this large and striking oak frame home, some 430 sq metres, using 62 metric tons of oak, sits comfortably in its wooded landscape. The main structure is one and a half storeys, using a drop tie frame, with a large barnroom extension, a conservatory with the dining area, a family room with kitchen and a large oak frame swimming pool complex.
This home provides so many examples of what can be achieved using structural timber framing in construction.
