Cruciform house in Berkshire
Location:
Berkshire Downs
Architect:
Roderick James Architects LLP
Frame Design:
Carpenter Oak
Details:
Cruciform house featured in second series of Channel 4's Grand Design programme.
A dramatic contemporary oak frame home, with extensive glazing, high up on the Berkshire Downs commanding a 360 degree view of the Lambourne valley. The four wings of the cruciform design lead into a central octagonal shaped kitchen with a void above to the glazed roof lanterns and a galleried 1st floor landing.
One of the highlights of the second series of Grand Designs this distinctive home is familiar to many.
