Brockwood Park School, founded in 1969 by educator and philosopher Krishnamurti, is a co-ed boarding school in the Hampshire countryside.

In response to a request by Brockwood to design accommodation for students and staff, Roderick James Architects LLP have come up with an exciting concept.  Rather than one large building which they felt would impose itself on this sensitive site and incur high engineering costs they proposed a design of 7 oak frame 'pavilions'.

The 'pavilion' design with 3 bays and a pyramid glazed roof, is based on an adaptation of the relatively low cost timber framed homes in the New Forest.  The 7 buildings will be interconnected using links, lending a sense of community.  Sustainability was a key consideration and Roderick James who was a founding member of the Centre of Alternative Technology has a track record in sustainable development.

Carpenter Oak Ltd have recently erected 3 pavilions and by Christmas 2011 the last 4 will be up.  Children from Brockwood have spent time at the Carpenter Oak framing yard learning about the process giving them a unique educational opportunity.

The next phase will be a Sports/Performance Hall which will follow at a later date.
